1st World Outgames

The world's first Outgames will be held here in Montreal where athletes from around the world will compete regardless of their sexual orientation and values.

The Outgames will bring together 16,000 participants from 100 countries, attracting 250,000 visitors to our city. Having recieved the 1976 olympics, Montreal has many world-class athletic venues for the competitions.

According to their website, "Montreal 2006’s vision is to orchestrate the largest and most magnificent gathering of gays, lesbians, bisexuals, transvestites, transsexuals and heterosexuals coming together in a festive spirit of celebration in North America’s City of Festivals."

The event is held thanks to the partnership of the city and the local (estimated at 340,000) and global gay and lesbian community.
